Regular Season Round 11: Anyang - KCC Egis 85-79

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Egis (5-6) were defeated on the road by seventh ranked Anyang (5-6) 85-79 on Friday. Anyang outrebounded KCC Egis 52-41 including 40 on the defensive glass. Anyang looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Anyang made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Haitian center Cady Lalanne (208-1992, college: UMass) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 21 rebounds. The former international guard Junhyeong Byeon (186-1996) chipped in 20 points and 7 assists. Four Anyang players scored in double figures. American swingman Deonte Burton (193-1994, college: Iowa St.) produced a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists and Jun-yong Choi added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Anyang moved-up to fifth place, which they share with KCC Egis and Sono SG. Anyang will meet higher ranked KoGas (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KCC Egis will play against Sono SG in Daegu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
